A small clip. A useful first look.

See your subject without the room.

A short test tells you more than a promise. Play this six-second recording beside its actual transparent result, then try a moment from your own video. Watch the outline while the subject moves.

The room is removed; fine hair and the headset outline are softer. The checkerboard shows transparency.

Your first cutout

Start with the moment you need.

You might only need a greeting, one product explanation or a few seconds from a lesson. Choose that moment instead of processing a whole recording just to see whether the result fits your project.

  1. Choose and play your file

Pick a video from your device. Preview the original so you know what should stay in the result, including a gesture or a spoken line.

  2. Select a short section

Open Trim video and set the beginning and end. Include some head or hand movement; a still pose can hide a rough edge.

  3. Remove, review and download

Start background removal. When the result is ready, play it over a light and a dark background, then choose the file you need.

Make the first test count

Check the part that will be seen.

Use a selection with the same lighting and movement as the finished video. Look at hair, shoulders and moving hands, then watch the whole selection at the size you plan to share. A clear still frame is a helpful start; smooth edges through the movement matter too.

For a presenter on a slide, check how the silhouette looks over the slide’s colors. For a social clip, try the final background and listen to the download. Keep the original recording so you can compare details or choose another section if needed.

One result, your next project

Choose how to use the cutout.

Review your result here, then choose an export for where it is going. A transparent file and a video with a finished backdrop serve different jobs.

WebM

Add the background later

Download the transparent clip for a web layout or an editor that supports video transparency. Check that your destination accepts WebM before building the rest of the project around it.

Share a finished background

Pick a solid color or upload a still image in Background, then export the combined video. This is a practical choice for a short announcement, presentation or social post.

Questions before your next clip

About the free trial.

Can I remove background from video free?

Yes. New accounts receive 30 free credits once after their first Google sign-in. Processing uses one credit per second of the selected clip, rounded up. Trial access supports selections up to 30 seconds. The allowance does not reset daily; when it is used up, you can choose a paid plan to continue. You can review a completed result and download it without a second processing charge.

Do I have to sign in before choosing a video?

You can choose a file, preview it and adjust the selection before signing in. When you are ready to process, the tool opens the sign-in window if you need an account. After signing in, choose the file again if your browser has reloaded the page. Your account is used to keep uploads and completed jobs private.

What if my video needs more credits than I have?

The tool checks your balance when you start processing. If it is too low, it shows the next steps without charging you for that failed attempt. Return to the clip settings to choose a shorter section, or open pricing to compare plans. Your account’s maximum clip length also applies, even when you have enough credits.

Compare plans and included credits
What video sizes and formats can I use?

Choose an MP4, MOV or WebM encoded with H.264, HEVC or VP9. Source files can be up to 2 GiB, 30 minutes and 4K; these are upload limits, rather than the length of a free processing selection. Trial selections can be up to 30 seconds. The tool inspects your file and explains unsupported formats or sizes before processing.

Can I download a transparent video or a finished MP4?

The main transparent download is WebM. Choose a color or your own still image in Background, then export a finished MP4 when you want that backdrop included. MP4 does not keep transparency. Transparent ProRes 4444 MOV is also available for eligible selections up to 10 seconds and 1080p. Those extra formats use the completed result without charging for background removal again.

Choose a transparent video format
Will my audio stay with the clip?

Yes. A source with audio keeps its audio in the processed selection; a silent video stays silent. Play the downloaded file to check the sound and timing before sharing it. Background removal changes the picture, so it does not remove room noise or create a new voice track.

Do I need a green screen or a desktop app?

No. Use the tool in your browser with an ordinary recorded room or outdoor scene. A clearly visible subject and even lighting help it separate the outline. Fine hair, motion blur, transparent objects and subjects that blend into the scene can still need careful review. For evenly lit green-screen footage, a color-key tool gives you direct control over the color being removed.

Use a color key instead
What happens if processing fails?

A failed processing job releases its reserved credits so you can try again. Keep the original file, read the message shown in the tool and retry a supported short selection. Once a result is completed, review its moving edges before using it; a successful process does not guarantee that every detail of every scene is perfectly separated.
