KEEP WHAT THE CLIP IS ABOUT

More of the activity.
Less of the face.

Blur faces in video when the activity matters more than who is in the shot. Keep the demonstration, setting and gestures in recordings you have permission to edit.

Workshop & coaching clips
Keep the hands, materials and demonstration visible when the useful part is what someone is doing.
Interview excerpts
Retain a speaker’s gestures and the surrounding setting when facial detail is not needed for the excerpt.
Everyday social clips
Prepare a recording before posting. Check everyone in the shot, including people who enter near the end.

How to blur faces in video.

No editing timeline to learn. Your video stays in one workspace from upload to finished file.

    Choose your clip

Pick a video from your device. Preview the source so you know you have the right file before uploading.

  2. 02

    Let the tool find faces

Click “Blur faces for free.” If needed, a sign-in window opens at this point. Start processing to apply the same soft-edged blur to detected faces.

  3. 03

    Watch, then download

Play the complete result. When it fits your needs, save the MP4 and continue with your usual editing or sharing workflow.

ONE LAST LOOK

Check the result
before sharing.

After you blur faces in video, watch the whole result. Pay attention when someone turns, moves behind a hand or returns to the shot; those moments can reveal a missed face.

Follow the face-blur tutorial and see how to fix a missed area.

01 Watch the beginning and the end.

02 Pause at turns and passing movement.

03 Check every person, not just the speaker.

When the result needs another edit

If a face becomes visible, finish that section with a manual mask in a video editor. Face blur is an editing aid; it does not guarantee anonymity. Clothing, voices and the location can still reveal who someone is.

GOOD TO KNOW

Face blur questions.

The details that help you choose the right clip and know what to expect.

Can I choose one person or adjust the blur strength?+

This version applies one soft blur style to all faces it detects. There is no person selector, strength slider or manual mask editor. If one person must stay visible while another is covered, use an editor with individual masks. Choose this tool when you want the same treatment across detected faces in a video.

Does face blur follow movement?+

Face positions are checked throughout the recording, so the blurred area moves with detected faces. A fast turn, a hand across the face or someone leaving the frame can interrupt detection. Small faces and side views are harder to detect. A successful export means the video was produced, not that every face was hidden in every frame.

What happens to the video I upload?+

The file goes to protected storage and is processed on our servers. It does not stay only in your browser. The original is scheduled for deletion after processing. Results are accessible to your account for 24 hours, then scheduled for cleanup. Usage records may be kept for limits and troubleshooting. Download your copy before the result expires. Read our privacy policy

Can I blur faces in video from my phone?+

Yes, choose a supported MP4, MOV or WebM file in your browser. Files up to 100 MB are supported. If your phone records at 4K or 60 fps, export a copy at 1080p and 30 fps first. For an unsupported codec, an H.264 MP4 copy is a useful starting point.

Why did my upload fail?+

A clip can fail if it is damaged, has no detectable face, exceeds the limits or cannot be processed within the available time. Use a shorter, well-lit recording with a clear face. There is no daily upload quota or fixed video-length limit. If processing takes too long, try a smaller file.

Will my download have a watermark or lose its sound?+

The tool adds no watermark. The MP4 keeps the original audio when present; a silent clip stays silent. Video and audio are encoded for the download, so the result is not a byte-for-byte copy of your source. Voices, names and conversations are not anonymized. Listen as well as watch when deciding what to share.

Can this blur a live call, a number plate or text?+

This page works on recorded video files and detects faces. It does not change a live webcam feed or automatically cover signs, number plates and text. Those details need a separate editing or redaction step. For a different visual task—keeping the person clear while softening the surrounding scene—use our background blur tool.
